The Daikin 12-Year Warranty, Explained
Up to 12 years of parts coverage — but only when you register, and only for parts, not labor. Here's the honest breakdown.
Daikin & Equipment
Daikin backs many of its residential systems with up to a 12-year parts limited warranty — but only when you register the equipment (typically within 60 days of installation), and it covers parts, not the labor to install them. Register on time and you keep the full term.
A warranty is only as good as the fine print, so here's the honest version — no asterisks hidden at the bottom.
What does the Daikin warranty actually cover?
The manufacturer warranty covers the parts in your system — the compressor, coils, boards, and other components — against defects for the covered term. On registered residential systems that term can run up to 12 years. It does not pay for the labor to diagnose and replace a part; that comes from your installer's separate labor warranty.
Why does registration matter so much?
This is the single most important thing to get right:
- Register on time (typically within 60 days of installation) and you keep the full, extended parts term.
- Miss the window and the equipment usually drops to a shorter standard warranty.
Because the difference is years of coverage, we handle registration for the systems we install so you don't lose it to a missed deadline.
Parts vs. labor — what's the difference?
- Parts warranty (manufacturer): the physical component is covered.
- Labor warranty (your installer): the time to replace it is covered — terms vary by contractor, so always ask what labor coverage you're getting and for how long.
Reading both together tells you your true out-of-pocket risk down the road.
What can shorten or void coverage?
- Skipping registration.
- Improper installation or using unlicensed work.
- Neglecting maintenance — many warranties expect reasonable upkeep, which is another reason a maintenance plan protects your investment.
How we protect your coverage
For systems we install, we register the equipment, install to spec, and document the work — so if you ever need a covered part, the paperwork is already in order. That's part of "no one cares more."

Frequently asked questions
How long is the Daikin warranty? +
Many Daikin residential systems carry up to a 12-year parts limited warranty when the equipment is registered on time (typically within 60 days of installation). Without registration, coverage usually drops to a shorter standard term, so registering promptly matters.
Does the Daikin warranty cover labor? +
No. The manufacturer warranty covers parts against defects. The labor to diagnose and replace a covered part is handled by your installer's separate labor warranty, so it's important to understand both when you buy a system.
Do I have to register my Daikin system? +
To get the full extended parts term, yes — registration is typically required within about 60 days of installation, or the equipment falls back to a shorter standard warranty. For systems we install, we handle the registration so you keep full coverage.
