Light-Commercial HVAC in the Permian Basin: What It Covers

Restaurants, offices, retail, and small warehouses run on different equipment. Here's what light-commercial HVAC covers — and our honest scope.

Light-Commercial HVAC

"Light-commercial" HVAC means heating and cooling for smaller business buildings — restaurants, offices, retail suites, and small warehouses — typically served by rooftop "packaged" units rather than the split systems in a house. It's real, everyday work in the Permian Basin, and being honest about scope matters: we focus on the light-commercial range, not large built-up chiller plants. Here's how it differs from residential and what to expect.

What makes commercial HVAC different from a home system?

  • Packaged rooftop units (RTUs). Most small commercial buildings use all-in-one RTUs on the roof instead of a separate indoor/outdoor split.
  • Higher cycling and longer hours. A restaurant or shop is occupied and generating heat (people, kitchens, lights, equipment) far more than a home, so the system runs harder.
  • Ventilation and code. Commercial spaces have outside-air and exhaust requirements a house doesn't, especially anywhere with cooking or chemicals.
  • Downtime costs money. When a home AC is down it's uncomfortable; when a business is down it can mean closing — so response time is part of the service.

When does a business need light-commercial service?

  • A storefront, office suite, or restaurant with one or more rooftop units.
  • A small warehouse or shop that needs reliable cooling and heating without a built-up industrial system.
  • A property manager who wants preventive maintenance to avoid mid-shift failures.

Where it goes wrong

  • Treating an RTU like a house unit. Commercial equipment, controls, and curbs are different; the wrong approach leaves you with recurring failures.
  • No maintenance plan. Hard-running commercial units that are never serviced fail at the worst time — peak summer, full dining room.
  • Hiring a contractor out of their depth. A 40-ton built-up system is a different animal from a 5-ton RTU. Honest scope protects you.

Our honest scope

We handle the light-commercial range that fits most Permian Basin businesses: rooftop units, splits, and ductless for restaurants, offices, retail, and small warehouses — repair, replacement, and maintenance. For very large or specialized industrial systems beyond that range, we'll say so and point you in the right direction. "No one cares more" includes not overselling what we do.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as light-commercial HVAC? +

Light-commercial HVAC covers smaller business buildings — restaurants, offices, retail suites, and small warehouses — usually served by rooftop packaged units (RTUs), splits, or ductless systems, rather than large built-up industrial chiller plants.

Can you service the rooftop units on my building? +

Yes. Rooftop packaged units are the most common light-commercial equipment in the Permian Basin, and we repair, replace, and maintain them for restaurants, offices, retail, and small warehouses.

Do you work on very large industrial HVAC systems? +

We focus on the light-commercial range that fits most local businesses. For very large or specialized industrial systems beyond that scope, we'll tell you honestly and help point you in the right direction rather than overselling.
